The most important concept I took away from Hamlet is the use of plot to create a story. In order to have a story you of course need a plot. But Hamlet's plot is so complicated, exciting, and interesting that it's like nothing you've ever seen before, and if you have, it was probably taken from Hamlet. The play showed that plot creates drama and twist and turns that keep the audience interested and thinking of what will happen next. However this was no normal revenge plot, Hamlet didn't kill his father's killer immediately, it took time and planning and in the end he never really accomplished it.
The most significant concept I learned from creating my digital essay is how to keep the audience interested. It is important to get your information across but also to do it in a way that will be interesting and creative. I think that our group did a great job of balancing both together and this project showed me that you need to have both. If the audience doesn't connect or want to listen to what you create, then it doesn't matter about the content. At the same time, if you don't have any meaning in what you are saying people will lose interest quickly.
Another concept I took away from creating the digital essay is different ways to actually create a digital essay. Because this essay could be made digitally there were so many options for what you could do, but I didn't realize how many choices there were. I had never thought about creating a radio or podcast of any kind but it was one of the most successful ways to create the essay. I also saw how other people used TV shows to model theirs after, podcasts, and even showed what would happen had Hamlet gone a different route.
