Blog #5

The tip that is most helpful to me is Activate Your Verbs. I like this tip because it also encompasses Make Meaning Early and I think both of these add simplicity and clarity to your writing. Activate Your Verbs has changed the way I construct sentences, because now I use the simplest version of my noun to create a more crisp sounding sentence. It really does create action and is clear to the point. It allows you to get more information into a smaller and better constructed sentence. Going along with that, Make Meaning Early is about getting the action out right away and who is doing that action. With that you are able to get straight to the important information.

I would like the editor's to focus on the flow of my paper to make sure that I am getting to the point and creating a story that chronologically makes sense. I think keeping The Loop in mind when reading my paper would probably be helpful because I want to make sure that my ending is tied with my intro to create connection between the two. Lastly, I want editors to be kind and specific when giving advice so I not only know what isn't working, but how to improve it.

I hope that with my writing I will be able to improve on making simpler and more concise sentences. Activate Your Verbs and Make Meaning Early are in my mind when I write now and I can already see the difference they have made. I would also like to improve in creating a flowing piece of writing that moves well from one sentence to the next. I think that these tips will continue to give me ideas while I write, which will ultimately improve my writing.
