Blog #9

Act 1, Scene 5
The meeting between Hamlet and his father's ghost was the first part of the play that stood out to me. I was interested because the ghost had not talked to anyone before Hamlet came along. Finally, we as an audience not only heard the ghost speak, but also found out who murdered Hamlet's father. The ghost set off the rest of the play because Hamlet was told that his uncle killed his father and his death must be avenged. In one second the play turns into a revenge plot and I as a reader am now left wondering what will happen next to meet his father's demand.

Act 1, Scene 5
Another moment in this scene plays a key role in Hamlet. Hamlet tells his friends, Horatio and Marcellus, that he is going to start to act crazy but they cannot tell anyone that they know this. He has them swear by his sword that they will never tell, or they will be killed. This stands out to me because as an audience member I start to see what Hamlet's plan is and his next move since learning of his father's murder. I became intrigued because I wanted to know how becoming crazy will lead to revenge.

Act 2, Scene 2
The last key moment is at the very end of Act 2 when we learn that Hamlet is going to write a scene for the actors that have arrived. He talks to himself and decides he is going to have the actors perform the story of his father's murder. Hamlet's goal is to see his uncle's reaction when he sees the play in order to determine if his uncle murdered his father or not. This is the next big moment that is going to happen in Hamlet and could lead to the death of a murderer.
